A late 18th-century scene off Plymouth with Rame Head in the distance.

The 76ft 220 ton Brig HMS Helena is being put through her paces in a fresh NW breeze followed by a frigate.  Helena was captured by the French in 1778 but re-captured the following year. She went missing in 1798.
