About Us

Julian Thomas is the founder and director of Art Marine.  After graduating in PPE from Oxford University and an extensive period of world travel, in 1984 he co-founded Art Contact, a consultancy specialising in providing art for commercial and corporate interiors.

Building on his love of marine art and his particular enjoyment of Patrick O’Brian’s Aubrey/Maturin novels, Julian moved on from Art Contact in 2004 to a stone barn in Wiltshire, there to focus on developing Art Marine into the leading online gallery of maritime paintings and limited edition prints.

For over twenty years, Art Marine has worked closely with Geoff Hunt, Past-President of the Royal Society of Marine Artists, as commissioning agent and publisher of his limited edition prints.  Julian is highly experienced in the management of commissioned painting projects, always ensuring an enjoyable and rewarding experience for Art Marine clients.

Now featuring the work of a wide range of talented marine artists, Art Marine is based at Court Farm Barn, between Frome and Bath in Somerset.  Whether you require a print on paper or an original on canvas, we always provide a personal and responsive service.

Viewing is available by appointment, in Lullington, or for specific artworks, in Notting Hill, London.
