A Fine Breeze for the Schooners - Bob Grimson

Two classic gaff-rigged schooners enjoy a fresh beam wind off Penobscot Bay, Maine.

The leading schooner is the Amistad built in 2000 at Mystic Seaport, CT. Although intended as a replica she is 10' longer and has slightly different lines to the original, which famously was the subject of a slave revolt in 1839. Even so, she makes a brave sight when thrashing along with a 'bone in her teeth'.
