The Chase - USS Hancock v. HMS Fox - Steven Dews

Whilst cruising the North Atlantic, east of Boston, two American frigates “Boston” and “Hancock” gave chase to “HMS Fox”. Hancock, being the faster, soon closed on “HMS Fox”. After overhauling her “Hancock” severely damaged the British ship. After a brave fight “HMS Fox” lost her mainmast and when the “Boston” joined the battle, “HMS Fox” struck her colours. After spending a few days repairing her prize, “Hancock” resumed her patrol of the New England coastline. The Fox was soon recaptured by the British frigate, “HMS Flora”
