The British frigate Crescent under Captain James Saumarez in action against the French Frigate Reunion, 20th October 1793.
Despite being outgunned the French put up a fight off the coast of Cherbourg, and it was a hard won battle for Captain Saumarez who received a knighthood for capturing the Reunion.
