Heavy Sea in Cook Strait - Bob Grimson

Bob Grimson writes: This painting is set in the early years of the 20th Century and a British-built steel four-masted barque is on a southerly heading in a full  Westerly gale in Cook Strait.   Perano Head, North Island is prominent on the left and the two Brothers Islands are in the distance.  The barque is under tops'ls and stays'ls and will shortly be gaining some lee from the land before altering course to SE for the entrance to Wellington Harbour which will then be dead downwind so should present no problems. The crew will doubtless be glad to be in with the opportunity to dry out for it will have been a wet ride.
