'New York Harbour'

This magnificent engraving is struck from the largest plate in the Thomas Ross Collection. Only one of the printing presses is large enough to take the plate which requires two printers to prepare and lift into position. This 'New York Press' dates fron the 1800s.

This restrike engraving was made contemporaneously from the original engraving plate and printed on an original period printing press. It was then carefully hand-coloured with water colour.
